The scholarship for a writer-in-residence offered by the Culture Forum is aimed at raising awareness among a wider public of the common cultural heritage of Germans and their neighbours in those regions of Central and Eastern Europe where Germans have lived or still do so today. Conceived as a roving scholarship, it is established each year in a different location in Eastern Europe of outstanding interest, with the purpose of promoting mutual understanding and encouraging intercultural dialogue.
